full te brim

The great thing about having an allotment is the goodies, tea tonight consisted of
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
my first early spuds
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
my favourite poddy peas as the boys call them
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
cabbage freshly earthed up, steamed and served with a dollop of butter
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
the shallots are waiting for pickling tomorrow after a good soak in salted water

and of course pudding of blackcurrant crumble.

what could be better?

Ahhh I wish I had the time to run an allotment. When my daughter is older & can drive herself to training I'll put my name down for one. I grew potatoes last year & they tasted so nice. Sweet Corn was another winner & I used to get the water boiling before I picked the cobs to stop the starch. As a veggie I'm green with envy.....

You're right, nothing tastes better than home grown and what a wonderful load of very good looking veggies! I used to have one when the boys were younger, they had great fun playing down there whilst I tended to my patch. Happy days! I'm now craving crumble by the way.....

Lovely! You can't beat fresh-from-the-ground veggies. My dad always had allotments when we were kids. Now the closest I get to good fruits and veggies is the weekly farmers' market; still miles better than the supermarket though.
